Here’s a look back at our year!
In January we got a sense of life with two children. I enjoyed maternity leave and spent my days home with Lola afraid to leave the house — it was so cold! Sean took Javi to school every day (an hour and a half traffic nightmare) and Javi loved talking about his new baby! He got a haircut, started toilet training, went to his first school dance (!), and they spent an afternoon at a Star Wars exhibit. Lola turned a month old, we celebrated my dad’s birthday and Javi talked a lot about how Tom Brady “hurt his hand”.
In February we watched as the Patriots lost the Superbowl, celebrated Valentine’s Day together, and took a trip to Maine. It snowed a lot and we built a snowman for the first time. Javi moved from his crib to a toddler bed. We took a random trip to New Hampshire (just because) and ended up in the car for more than 7 hours. Javi loved showing Lola all his toys and she loved watching him do anything at all.
In March we tried to get outside any day that was warmer than 40 degrees. Lola made her way back to the doctors for her 3 month appointment. I went away for my annual Scrapbook Weekend trip and Sean took Javi and Lola to Maine. We got a lot more snow, went to the EcoTarium, and celebrated Sean’s birthday. I went back to work after maternity leave and Javi started a Sports class.
In April we celebrated Easter — Javi was so excited by the Easter egg hunts. He went to his weekly Sports class and we tried our hand (again) at planting a garden. Javi had to go to the ER after he split open his chin, the warm weather came back and we tried to get outside even more. Javi’s favorite thing to do was sidewalk chalk — and Lola just got dragged around everywhere we went!
In May our garden was thriving so we bought a greenhouse. Javi got crazy on the playground EVERY day and came home with so many scrapes and bruises. I started selling MONAT! Javi ran in a FUN run. We went to a Disney POPs concert. I got to celebrate Mother’s Day. Lola tried food for the first time. We went to Maine just for lunch.
In June Javi had a popsicle party at school and finished in his Toddler classroom. I finished my ninth year of teaching. We celebrated Father’s Day. Javi’s Sports class wrapped up. Sean got laid off. We spent a lot of family time together. We went to Maine. We went to the Cape. I had my first MONAT event. We did a lot of landscaping and went to Davis Farmland.
In July we played at the pool almost every day. We went to story times. We celebrated 4th of July. We went to the beach and for family walks and to splash pads. We went to my family reunion. Sean and I went to Mexico for a week. We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. I went to the Taylor Swift concert. We spent a week in the Cape and went kayaking. We celebrated my mom’s birthday. We saw Macklemore and Kesha in concert.
In August we were still in the Cape. We spent time in Maine. Sean got a job and traveled to London. We went to the playground and to the zoo. We went hiking. I started my tenth year of teaching and Lola went back to her infant classroom at the end of the month.
In September we went hiking some more. My MONAT business started making money. I joined a local democrats chapter and started going to Tuesday meetings. I voted in the primaries. Javi started preschool. We went to a birthday party at a playground and I did CPR on a stranger. I turned 32. Javi turned 3. He had a bounce house/PJ Masks/trains/Batman party. We went to a wedding.
In October we went back up to Maine. We decorated for Halloween and Javi changed what he was going to “be” every day. We went back to the Zoo for Zoo Boo Day. We drove around looking for spooky lights. Lola had a pajama day at school. Javi decided on Batman and Lola was a ladybug. I voted early! We took family photos.
In November Lola started walking! We had fires and made s’mores. I ranked up with MONAT! We went to Maine for Thanksgiving. We decorated for Christmas and started shopping! We went to our town tree lighting.
In December we celebrated five years in our home! We got a Christmas tree. We went to New Hampshire. Lola got a stomach bug and sick from her 1 year shots. She turned one! She also moved up from her infant class to a Toddler classroom! We met Santa at the mall. We had a Christmas Eve party. We went to the playground. Javi had a winter celebration at school. We brought in the New Year with family.
It’s so fun to look back on our year together as a family. We can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store.
September brought chilly mornings, lots of family time, busy schedules and birthdays!
