24 Hours in Boston.

We surprised the kids last Friday with a night at a hotel in Boston. They were more than excited about this — being total hotel lovers — and we left after their half-day of school. They haven’t been to Boston that many times, maybe less than five times for various things? We’ve gone to the aquarium (once and Javi was 3, Lola was under 1), maybe dinner once, the girls went to the Pride Parade back in June, and Javi’s been to Fenway twice. But we’ve never just gone to go, and we’ve never walked around with the kids!

I booked a room at the Westin in Copley two days prior which was the best decision. The hotel was so pretty and all decorated for Christmas. The room was so inexpensive, so large and comfortable, and it had such an amazing view. The kids couldn’t believe how far they could see and how big the city was. We were in room 1313, but there was no bad luck to be had!

We made reservations at Eataly, where they serve what the kids love — pasta. It was so busy! The kids loved walking between the hotel and the restaurant… inside the mall. They thought it was the best thing ever that they never had to go outside!

And after, we walked to the Boston Common to see the large tree! It was a bit of a walk, but the kids did great. I was the slow walker! It was a little hard to know which tree was the tree because there seemed to be dozens with lights! But once we saw it, it was obvious! We also took some time to watch the ice skaters on the frog pond.

Once back in the room, we got a late-night snack (it was really only 9, but felt late!) and then we all fell asleep watching Elf; Eva and Sean in one bed, me and Lola in another bed, and Javi slept like a king on the sleep sofa!

When we woke up in the morning, Sean took the kids to grab us breakfast and we hung out in the room. Then made our way to Disney on Ice! It was such a fun little getaway and one that I hope becomes a tradition!
