A few weeks ago, Lola voiced that she has never had a birthday party. Of course, that’s not true and if you ask my mom she’d tell you I, too, used to say that she never threw me a birthday party! So now I guess I know how she feels. Even though it wasn’t true… my heart broke when she told me how Javi has parties with bounce houses and lots of people! It’s true her parties seem to blend into the week between Christmas and New Years. Sometimes people can’t come or cancel last minute. They are busy, or sick and last year (and this year, for that matter), the pandemic played a part. But I knew that she had to have a super special day.
She wanted a bounce house but that just can’t happen in Massachusetts in December. So I started looking online and found some inspiration for a tea party. And that’s when Lola’s PARTEA was born.
It happened around lunch time and we had all her favorites: waffles, bacon, pasta, strawberries and cupcakes. I used my grandmother’s china and the kids drank lemonade out of champagne flutes. My friend and her daughter joined us for the partea and Lola was SO happy to have a friend.
Here’s a little video of the partea:
My friend Whitney took all these photos and made the video, too. 🙂
