Our month of August had a slower pace than June and July which was both exciting and a little bit boring. Let’s just say, for the first time in a long time — it felt like 31 days. Usually, I’m feeling like where did the time go… but this past month, yikes. I felt time and it was slow. Truthfully, I had a hard month. The anniversary of our baby due date came and went and I felt it this year just as much as the year our baby should have come.
The kids were in and out of camps and there were lots of drop offs and pick ups which meant no time for any sort of summer day trip. It was so hot that I couldn’t even be outside most days. Lola started Cheer which is a full-time job for me between getting her where she needs to be, reading the messages on the parenting app and volunteering at the events! Sean had two surgeries, a week apart, and he had to travel for work for a bit. I started back up with my PTO volunteering. And by the 3rd week, we got covid — which we’re still dealing with. Only one person is testing positive right now… and that’s me. Safe to say, I’m looking forward to… fall.
JAVI: Javi’s highlights were losing a tooth and getting a haircut. We went to plenty of playgrounds and enjoyed ice cream a bunch, too. He spent one week at camp; it was an outdoor adventure camp and he loved it. He joined a lego club at the town library. And he’s been obsessed with catching pokemon on pokemonGo. (I don’t have many pictures of him because he now refuses to take photos… so that’s fun…)
LOLA: Lola started Cheer. She mastered riding a two-wheeler and roller skates! I took her to get her first manicure which lasted less than a day before the polish “fell off”. She cheered at her 3rd jamboree, and got serious about reading before bedtime.
EVA: Eva did her very first week of summer camp and it was a love/hate relationship. As in she loved it but told me she was never going back… and then every day, happily got ready for camp. She also perfected her roller skating skills, played a lot of dress up, and loved her first “back to school shopping trip” at the mall.
WALKER: Walker spent his month rolling around and trying different foods! I’ll do a post on him, after he does his wellness visit and we get a growth check on him because he is so big! And yes, he hated the slide!
Some other moments from the month: getting italian subs with Sean after his vasectomy, taking Eva to Burger King to get a crown, buying Javi and Walker their first twinning outfit, posing with Lola, taking the kids out for ice cream before dinner, the whole gang with their bikes and scooters and skates, writing 200 postcards encouraging people living in Nebraska to vote, a movie day date to see Deadpool, repotting a bonsai tree, and posing in the driveway.
WEST END: One fun place we did go to was with my dad — a little farm area with ice cream! The kids had so much fun riding bikes (until Eva fell…) and going on a tractor ride. It was SO hot, ice cream was necessary.
BACK TO SCHOOL: And then, it was time for back to school. They each got to visit their classrooms and so far Javi and Lola have had two days of school and Eva hasn’t started yet!
And now we’re onto September!
September brought chilly mornings, lots of family time, busy schedules and birthdays!
Our littlest guy is seven months old and is a lovebug!
Every October 1st, I give the kids Boo Baskets. They've become a favorite tradition and…
Ah, this has been the first month that I'm feeling a little behind on Walker's…
