Her room is ready! Did you hear that?! The nursery (that I’ve been pining over) is ready BEFORE her arrival. I’m so excited for this nursery reveal. Similar to Javi’s room — I wanted her nursery simple and non-cluttered. Plus I wanted the space to be bright and instill a feeling of happiness. I wanted yellows, teals and pinks which I think I accomplished.
As with any big reveal — I think it’s important to acknowledge what this room looked like when we bought the house. (ha!) and to admit that it stayed THIS way for the nearly four years that we’ve lived here. It’s shameful. I don’t know what the previous homeowners were thinking!
The Nursery — Before and After:
Do you see?! Do you see what we were living with? The walls had DIFFERENT wallpapers! Like… ON PURPOSE. I hated the room so much that it quickly became a dumping ground for everything we owned that didn’t have a place. Do you blame me? The previous owners also left all that furniture in the room. So we had to deal with that (and ultimately pay to throw it away…)
So, I’ll show you what it looks like now. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. It’s bright and such a happy space. We ended up painting the walls “Moonshine” by Benjamin Moore. It’s my favorite color and our kitchen and Javi’s nursery are the same color. All the trim is Decorator’s White which is so fresh and clean looking. I can’t wait to bring Lola home to it.
Nursery Reveal:
The first item I bought was this amazing rug! It’s thick and easy to walk on and so bright! Once the rug arrived, everything else just sort of fell into place. The windows do have cordless black-out blinds. Javi has the same ones in his room and they are amazing!
Can we talk about this swan head from Target? These animal heads are so adorable. I want them all!
Her crib was a gift and it’s the same one Javi has in his room. I love the simple look of it. Even more, I love this crib sheet. Javi had two night stands in his room and uses neither of them — so I moved one into Lola’s room. She was gifted a few books of her own so I decided to display them on the night stand for now. It’s also the place for her monitor.
Here is the other side of the nursery! I debated whether to put a glider in here but I’ve chosen to keep it in our bedroom. She won’t sleep in this room for a few months but once she does maybe I’ll move the glider in this space.
Jellycats are just so cute. I mean this elephant one? I just love them. I kept all the cards we’ve been gifted for her arrival and those are all in the pink box on the top shelf. I did this for Javi (and later included first birthday cards) and he loves them — so I thought Lola may enjoy them, too!
I just love these wooden signs.
Here’s another angle! Her dresser is the Hemnes one from Ikea. I set it up similarly to Javi’s since he has the same one (maybe I’ll do a post on that soon!). The little shelves are also from Ikea. They were a wood color and Sean painted them white.
Oh, see?! We got the llama head from Target, too! You guys! They’re so cute.
The giraffe print is one of my favorites. She Persisted was the guest book at my flurry so guests wrote really sweet messages to Lola and the other book, Goodnight Stories from Rebel Girls was also gifted to her!
When Javi was a newborn, we kept the teal cart downstairs on the first floor. But it matched her room so well that I moved it upstairs for now. It houses all the burp cloths, swaddles & blankets and the few toys she’s received.
I know her nursery is pretty empty but so is Javi’s (and ours for that matter)! None of us spend that much time in our bedrooms and all the toys are in the playroom, the books are in the library and we spend all our time together on the first floor. So… I love it the way it is.
Hope you enjoyed the nursery reveal!
