Bringing in October.

September was always my favorite month — something about the start of a new school year PLUS my birthday PLUS Javi being born in the month, too, made it very special. But October is quickly growing on me. Maybe it’s because everything is a bit more fun and special with littles ones around but I can’t help but be excited about all the month’s festivities!

Perfect Ways to Celebrate October:

Decorate: As soon as October 1st hits, I jump at the chance to grab the tote bins from the basement and decorate. I love to change up my mantle, add Fall scented candles, switch to Fall scented cleaning products and of course, add pumpkins all over the house!Fall Photo Shoot: Who can resist taking photos with red, yellow and orange leaves in the background? We were so excited to have some pictures taken by a great friend and I can’t wait to share them in a later post. We coordinated outfits (from Old Navy!), laid out some fall blanket scarves and chased around a baby and a toddler for an hour. Pick up costumes: If you have kids, this one’s a given for October — but COSTUMES! We got the kid’s Halloween costumes the last weekend in September so they could get the most use out of it. Javi’s been wearing his EVERY DAY. Pajama car rides: A few weekends ago, we dressed the kids in their jammies and went on a late evening ride to see “spooky lights” and jack-o-lanterns. Unfortunately, they both fell asleep within just a new minutes of our ride — but it was perfect (+ quiet!) ride for me and Sean. 🙂 Plus it’s great practice for night rides come Christmas time!Pumpkin Carving: We picked up some pumpkins and each claimed one as our own. Javi drew a ghost on his (a pretty good one, too!) and Sean helped him carve it. Then we put them all on the front steps and light the candles each night. Plus, we went one step further and roasted, and snacked on, ALL the pumpkin seeds. 🙂Use those costumes: We like to get good use out of those pricey Halloween costumes. Trunk-or-Treat? We’re there. Truck-or-Treat? We’re there. Zoo-Boo Day? We’re there. Back in September, I scoured FB for Halloween events near our house and we’ve been able to wear costumes every weekend out and about (and at home, every day!).

What are you October traditions?
