As the end of the year nears I wanted to take some time to recap our Christmas season. We had a busy month — complete with some travels and illnesses but mostly holiday fun. Last year, being on maternity leave, I had more time to devote to Javi and advent calendar activities and overall Christmas joy, but I think this year was just as fun (in a different, much busier, way). Lola is still too little and didn’t get to fully enjoy the whole holiday hooplah but she did her best. 🙂
We started off the month by sending out our holiday cards from Shutterfly! We used a picture that we took during our fall photo shoot. We got our tree, let it “fall” and waited to decorate it for a few days. When it was ready, Javi was thrilled to put the star at the top! We decorated inside and outside and he was so happy when we brought home a “Frosty the snowman”. (It broke on Dec. 23 and I’m totally going to be THAT person who tries to return it after the holiday season).
We visited Santa at the mall and Lola was NOT having any part of it. She clung on to Sean for dear life as Javi very cautiously approached the HUGE chair Santa was sitting on — not sure why they make it so intimidating.
We did a candy advent calendar and he couldn’t get enough. He just thought the elves were so magical to always leave something during dinner time. 🙂 AND we loved seeing him sing during his Winter Celebration at school. He’s definitely three, and was excited 5 days before Christmas. But, it was adorable. The same day, Lola had a Christmas-themed pajama day at her school! She wasn’t having any part of her hat…
Once we were on vacation, we quickly ALL got sick (in waves, of course) but still managed to bake, cook, have people over, and be merry. It’s such a perfect time of year.
September brought chilly mornings, lots of family time, busy schedules and birthdays!
