Eleven Months With Walker Phoenix.

It’s getting harder and harder to take these photos because he barely stays still these days! He’s so excited to be his own independent person, and he doesn’t want to be held back! 🙂

This month he showed so much growth. He learned so many new skills like clapping, waving, and giving high fives. He really responds to his name now, and if you point somewhere he can track with his eyes what you want him to see. He can also follow little “commands” like look out the window, or let’s go to the kitchen. He knows what to expect, and it’s so fun to watch him learn and then put what he’s learned into practice.

This month I got his room together… finally! We moved a shelf in there for a few toys, and hung up some decorations on the walls. He still needs a chair or some place comfy to sit, and the many, many toys in his closet need to be sorted and purged, but it’s getting there! He finally has a nice space to call his own.

He’s getting stronger at standing, and furniture walking and he’s very interested in everything that everyone else is doing. He wants to paint, and use playdough, and help with laundry. He loves being carried around, and hates to be left alone in a room. He stands at the gate and cries until you go back for him.

I had set a goal a few months ago to finally get him to nap in his crib each day and had failed miserably… until the end of January! It’s been three weeks now and he’s finally established a nap routine… that doesn’t include me holding him, or rocking him, or keeping him buckled in his seat or stroller. As much as I love contact naps and midday squeezes, it’s so nice to have a little bit of a breather. 🙂

Some firsts this month: sitting in the front part of the shopping cart, getting his first jacket, and going down a slide!

Next month he turns a year old and I’m not ready!
