FIVE MONTHS. Should I say I can’t believe it every month?! 🙂 Time totally flies by. Let’s take a peek at Walker’s last month.
This was a very exciting month for our little guy! He celebrated his first 4th of July, we spent our first night apart when I took the other kids to NYC, we spent days at the splash pad and the pool — the playground and the library, we spent a week in Maine going to totally new places, and spent time with family and friends! He’s a very smiley man and seems to be up for anything (though he tends not to have a choice as a 4th kid!)
He’s been sleeping in his crib all month long! He goes to bed at 7, and only some nights does he require an extra one or two squeezes to help him get back to sleep. He’s had a few “bad” nights but for the most part, he stays in his bed until between 5-6AM when he wants a bottle. He usually doesn’t wake up crying either, he talks to himself for a while and we listen to him on the monitor. Once he has his bottle, we snuggle in bed for another hour or so and he’ll take a catnap. He loves when the kids come in the room each morning to say hello.
He’s started to show interest in toys! He loves the o-ball and a little teether he has and his grasp is getting stronger and more precise. He’s definitely pulled out his fair share of my hair! He doesn’t love being “left alone” on a mat to play but when someone lays with him, he finds that suitable. He worked really hard to roll over (no easy feat considering his size!) — and can roll from back to front and front to back! He’s also started to push up with his arms and he’s getting so strong. He still needs major support with sitting up; he’s a little top heavy!
He doesn’t have another wellness visit until he turns 6 months so I’m not exactly sure about his growth but he is surely growing! He is now wearing 9 months, 12 months and even 12-18 month clothing depending on the brand. He wore size 3 diapers all month but it was probably a mistake… we had many unfortunate diapering incidents that were probably due to him wearing the wrong size! He has 6 bottles a day, each 6 ounces and that seems to fill his belly and keep him happy.
He loves being outside, going for walks, being held and carried around, being “entertained” by the other kids, and hugs and kisses. He laughs so much when silly faces are made at him and when the kids play peek a boo (which I’m not sure he really gets, but he does laugh like crazy!) He loves when Javi plays with him, when Lola holds him, and when Eva sings you are my sunshine. He continues to be very exciting for them all.
His days are finally starting to feel more routine-like. That’s not to say some days aren’t just all over the place, but things are generally more predictable now. I think he cries less (Sean would probably not agree!) — he takes his pacifier less, for sure. I think he’s probably almost ready to phase that out completely. He’s very animated, and his whole face lights up when he’s happy. We’ve also learned he doesn’t like loud noises and gets easily spooked. When he’s sad… he is SAD. But a few squeezes and a few kisses is all it takes to help his lip stop quivering.
We are truly so happy to have him with us and feel so lucky every day. We all love his little coos and squeals. We’re all smitten by him (and his rolls!) and just can’t wait to spend all our days together.
September brought chilly mornings, lots of family time, busy schedules and birthdays!
Our littlest guy is seven months old and is a lovebug!
Every October 1st, I give the kids Boo Baskets. They've become a favorite tradition and…
Ah, this has been the first month that I'm feeling a little behind on Walker's…
