We’re six weeks in! This week I started two more (smaller) goals! The first is the two minute rule. Basically, this means that if a task is going to take me two minutes or less to do… I just do it! It sounds really easy, right? But it’s amazing how many things I typically put off for later (putting a dish in the dishwasher, putting a book back, sorting the mail) and then all those later tasks really pile up!
The second thing I’ve started doing is writing down all the things I do all day, and what the kids do along with their emotions and moods. I haven’t decided what I’ll do with these notes (if anything, at all) but right now I share them with my friend who is also a stay at home mom and she sends her lists to me. It helps me put into perspective that I do a lot every day even though most days feel sort of redundant and empty… they’re actually really full and there’s a reason I’m exhausted by the end of it! 🙂
And now for a little 2022 goals check-in. I feel a little bit like it’s pointless to do these weekly recaps, especially when there’s not much progress. But I think that’s sort of the process. So I’m going to continue, even though week by week there’s not much change because I’m hopeful that over time, there will be something worth sharing!
Goal #1: Declutter. I haven’t had any time to do anything with decluttering! Now that Lola is back at dance (tap, ballet and gymnastics), the PTO is back to in-person meetings, the school is accepting volunteers again (yay!), AND the girl who comes over twice a week is back to coming… my days are full. The thought of bringing up bins from the basement to sort and make a mess of… I just can’t. I think I might try to do some decluttering in a few weeks during Javi’s winter vacation.
Goal #2: No spend challenge. This was no good either. 🙂 Sean had to travel for work this week and even though I had a meal that I planned to cook for the kids… we got takeout from the Outback! I also spent $8 at Michael’s for Javi’s classroom’s Valentine’s Day party!
Goal #3: Save $20K. Again, I think any long-term goal is about the process! I’m lagging behind in our savings challenge but I do believe it’s still possible! So I’m not giving up hope.
Week 6 savings: $64
Total saved: $1124 (5.6% at goal)
