Holidays: Christmas Eve to New Year’s!

Woo! What a week! The holidays are such a fun and exciting time but always so busy! Time got away from me a bit (what with the holidays and giving birth!) but I want to make sure that I post a bit about this past week — starting with Christmas Eve all the way up to NYE!

Holiday #1 — Christmas Eve:

Santa visited our house on Christmas Eve — afternoon! Our town police station sponsors a great event where you sign up through the station and officers escort Santa around on Christmas Eve and he visits houses, takes pictures and gives out presents. I was so excited when we made the list (they only go to 50 houses!). We invited some family over for it (and the Patriots game) and I was so happy that Javi was totally into Santa — especially since for the month of December anytime I mentioned visiting Santa, he would respond — “NO SANTA!”.

When everyone went home, we gave Javi his Christmas Eve box, read a story, left out cookies and milk for Santa and Javi went to bed. That’s when the real work began! Sean spent a bit of time putting together Javi’s main present — this indoor climbing dome (it was SUCH a hit).

Holiday #2 — Christmas:

It was a white Christmas! Javi woke up early on Christmas morning and immediately saw his climbing dome. He checked on Santa’s cookies and milk and was really impressed that they had disappeared and that the milk was gone! 🙂 Sean wasn’t feeling well so we opened presents slowly and over the course of the morning. In the afternoon, Sean stayed home and rested and Javi and I went to my parent’s house to visit and exchange presents. He had a blast running around, opening gifts, and playing with cousins. By the end of the night he wasn’t feeling well either. I’m still not sure if it was lack of sleep, eating cookies all day, running around like a crazy person… or the bug that Sean got, but luckily by morning he was feeling better!

Holiday #3 — NYE:

Fast forward a few days (add in some days of labor and 3 nights in the hospital) and we’re at NYE! This was our first holiday as a family of FOUR and we brought Javi and Lola to my parent’s house to ring in the new year. Javi ended up staying the night since he goes to bed at 7 and we wanted to stay a bit later than that. Around 10:30, Sean, Lola and I headed home and Sean says I fell asleep at 11:58 — so I didn’t make it to midnight. It’s been a week & I’m exhausted!

Happy New Year!

I hope your holidays were filled with family, friends & love.
