Home Depot Kids Workshop.

We went to Home Depot’s Kids Workshop!

Last week, I saw that Home Depot was holding their monthly kids workshop over the weekend. This is something they offer the first Saturday each month. You can register, show up between 9am-12 and they have a space set up for kids to make a FREE project! The kits are ready, they have all the supplies and you create at your own pace. Since it was our first time, they gave the kids woodworking aprons and made sure to tell us that if we return to another workshop, to remember to bring the aprons.

February’s workshop was to make a valentines vase!

With three kids, we definitely had a variation of skills but the interest across the board was strong! They were all totally invested from the time we arrived until the time we left. Javi was able to do much of the project independently, only needing help to hold some wood pieces in place so that he could use the hammer.

They each worked really hard to hammer their pieces together!

Once assembled, they chose their paint colors to make their vases their own. Lola chose pink and purple (no surprise!), Javi chose different shades of blue (no surprise!) but I was shocked when Eva chose yellow and orange and told me those are her actual favorite colors. 🙂 Her vase ended up matching her outfit.

After they painted them, they could add a sheet of stickers (heart-themed) and then they added the tubes that act as the vase.

Later in the day, we stopped at a local flower shop and got 9 single flowers! We cut them to size and filled their valentines vases. So cute!

Javi said he would like to go back to Home Deport “every day”! Unfortunately we can’t make it to March’s workshop because he’ll be away with Cub Scouts, but we’ll be there in April! They’re building poolside birdhouses. 🙂
