January 2025.

Winter can feel slow, like everyone’s in hibernation mode—staying cozy at home. But not us! January 2025 was a whirlwind of non-stop activity. We tried to take it easy, but somehow, we ended up running around like crazy. Guess it’s just our busy season!

Hiking:

Sean’s personal focus this year is to get outside with the kids more. Think: intentional hikes, fishing, camping, etc. So there were a few free days when he took kids based on who was healthy on that day.

Basketball:

We have a combined four sessions of basketball this season. Javi practices twice a week, and the girls each have one practice. It would be ideal, except that the girls practice at 8am on Saturdays. It’s early.

Cookies:

Our Girl Scout has been spreading herself thin trying to sell 200 boxes of cookies! She’s sold a bunch through her website and has stood outside during two storefront sales at a local coffee shop. She has one more storefront in February. I’m not sure she’ll reach her goal of 200 boxes but she sure is determined!

Birthdays:

Between celebrating my dad’s birthday, Eva attending a friend’s birthday party, and throwing Lola’s 7th birthday party… there was a lot of celebrating!

Scouts:

Javi was busy with Scouts this month. There were hikes, serving dinner at church, Den meetings where he earned a woodworking belt loop, designing his Derby car, and a visit to the Police station (the girls got to join!)

Around home:

We’re fully decked out for Valentine’s Day. I finally got around to decorating Walker’s room a bit, and hung up their school pictures!

Homeschool mornings:

Homeschool mornings are still a thing around here! Since Eva doesn’t go to school until 12:30, we have a few hours each day to play and work. We’ve had trips to the library, played board games and card games, made salt dough ornaments, played in sensory bins, practiced numbers and letters, and she’s reading!

In the kitchen:

Lola’s favorite place continues to be in the kitchen with Sean. She helps him make dinner almost every night. This month they made homemade pasta, breads, different sauces, and just invested in stuff to make sushi.

More Snaps:

There were also doctor appointments (and the stomach bug), points scored at basketball, new presents, 21 Peleton workouts, lots of books read (17 for me!), lots of music played, lots of art made, our first snowstorm, and Walker discovered both dishes and sneakers! 🙂

It was a hard month out in the world, hopefully February is a bit kinder.
