I was going to recap January but I had too many photos! So I’ve decided to backtrack a bit and break up what would be a larger post, into smaller chunks. First up: a peek at some kid-centered activities we did in January.
This month was COLD. We didn’t get a ton of snow, but the kids had one (maybe two?) snow days and definitely one or two delays… plus some early releases and two holidays — bottom line, they were home A LOT. So here are some things they kept occupied with:
Paint by Number: I can’t believe this was our first time trying this! They all loved it, but I do think Lola had the most fun and was the most proud of her work! I picked up these paint by number canvases from Michael’s when they were on major sale at the start of the month. I don’t regret it but they are large so now I’m struggling with… where to put them!
Free printables: One day they woke up to snow and wanted to do all things — penguin! Who knew?! So I scoured the internet (I took like 3 minutes) and printed off some free worksheets they could work on: dot to dot, crossword puzzles, parts of a penguin, build a penguin, penguin dot markers, penguin shapes, I spy games… you get the idea! It’s so easy to find anything in a particular theme on the internet, you just have to be careful because a lot of printables aren’t correct — one of these ones has the wrong names for the shapes!
Salt Painting: This was a very popular one on instagram! Take a lot of salt, some glue and watercolors and allow the kids to make these pretty salt paintings in the shape of a snowflake (you could do a heart for Valentine’s Day!) Lola and Javi enjoyed this one more so than Eva.
Crayon Resist Watercolor: As we approached February, we couldn’t get our minds off of Valentine’s Day! This little project kept them occupied for quite some time!
They also kept busy with cooking and baking, some new toys and materials, helping with home improvement projects, playing in the snow, their extracurriculars and so much more! Stay tuned for some more posts!
We're nearing the end of November, but I can't forget to recap October! I'll jump…
September brought chilly mornings, lots of family time, busy schedules and birthdays!
Our littlest guy is seven months old and is a lovebug!
