We had an exciting July and I wanted to make sure to recap it. So here goes:
I took the kids blueberry picking and then we came home and made blueberry muffins! It was incredibly hot the day we went and we lasted (maybe) 20 minutes. But we picked enough to have muffins and that’s really what the kids wanted. I thought it would be an activity that would last the morning. I WAS WRONG. ha! But I’m trying to just let go of my expectations.
We spent every Tuesday and Thursday evening at Javi’s t-ball games! Initially, I was going to withdraw him from t-ball because of Covid but also because games were at 7PM and that is his bedtime. But I emailed the coach (I know, I know) and they ended up moving games up to 6PM (I hope not just for me, ha!) so he participated. He LOVED it — it was very stressful for me, but Lola and Eva enjoyed being on the field, too.
I took these great pictures of the kids one day. It looks all great and calm but (full disclosure) I was having a meltdown! I wanted the perfect shot and was so annoyed that they weren’t just all sitting and smiling at the camera. It was not pretty (on my end). Now when I look at them, I love them so much and I’m so ashamed that I was so vocally upset with them! (Oh, and I had one printed on canvas and MISJUDGED the sizing — so now I have a 36X24 canvas of my kids and I swear it’s bigger than they are!)
July seemed really hot to me (hence the outdoor meltdown during picture taking). So we did a lot indoors — making popsicles was popular. Javi loves to help make them and Lola LOVES to eat them.
We completed the instagram box challenge and this is something I’d love to do again. The kids had so much fun and I love the way it looks.
As hot as it was — some days we braved the heat early on and rode bikes and scooters. I ended up getting Lola her very own scooter which she LOVES.
We also took these fun pictures (Javi’s idea!)
We went up to Christine’s pool in Maine a few times! Javi can stand up in the shallow end! Lola is getting so brave in the water (it’s actually scaring me just a little) and even Eva enjoyed it the second time around!
Of course we celebrated Evie’s 8 month birthday AND Gramma’s b-day!
We’ve been working, too! The kids have been loving Sink and Float (especially when we add bubbles into the mix), Lola is working on 1-5 and Javi is loving the Movable Alphabet.
We took a drive out to western Massachusetts and visited Mt. Greylock which I never knew existed! It was a super cloudy day so we couldn’t even see a thing off the mountain but it was a nice drive, anyway.
We also took a drive out to Winsor Dam — and I don’t remember where it was. It was HOT but worth it (despite Lola being upset about the heat.)
Our backyard is not in a good condition to play. We’re having a good amount of work being done — adding a patio, extending our deck, putting in a fire pit and a playground. So we rarely get out there! But we’ve managed to open up our NEW sandbox a few times and the kids LOVE it. It’s better than going to the beach because it doesn’t take all day and we can come inside and use the bathroom.
We did the drive-thru zoo! It’s a new thing that our zoo is doing because of Covid — but you get to drive thru and see all the exhibits from your car. It was so much and the kids thought they were the coolest because they got to unbuckle and sit up front.
We had a super fun month! I hope yours was great, too 🙂 And I’m fully aware that August is basically over!
I hope to be back in the new few days to recap Eva! She turns 9 months old tomorrow!
