Montessori shelfie: 7 months.

So I figured, what better way to jump back in then with a little snapshot of his shelves at seven months:

Javi has started crawling on his own and now likes to grab, retrieve and of course, mouth things. So everything out, must be safe to “eat” but still fun, practical and exciting. This shelf is from Ikea and since he’s not standing yet the top shelf isn’t totally accessible at all times. But, he makes it work. He stretches his little arms and successfully takes down the objects. He hasn’t tried to retrieve the tower yet, good thing since I think it would topple him. But he likes to stare at it and I think he’s scheming.

Here’s what’s out:

Skip Hop Giraffe Safari Nest and Play Blocks — He’s played with this on the ground when I put it in front of him but has not reached for it independently. Yet.

Montessori bell — He loves this and loves mouthing it just as much as shaking it to make sound.

First Year Stacking Cups — These are definitely a favorite. He’s not sure how to “nest” them yet but he loves to take the cups apart and look at each one. And then eat them.

Baby Touch & Feel book, Animals — This book is great because the pictures are realistic. He’s just starting to feel the pages but he’s been grabbing at this book since he was 5 months. It’s not getting old; he loves it.

Double Bubble Wooden Bead Maze — When I ordered this (it was highly recommended in some Montessori forums I follow) I thought it was going to be bigger so I was disappointed. Turns out, it’s a great size for his little hands to grab, pick up, move, shake, lift, etc. It’s super sturdy and it’s surviving his drops and bangs. He loves it.

Infantino Textured Multi Ball Set — These are wonderful and I can’t even express how much they occupy him. He absolutely loves them.   In addition to his shelves, which are in our living room, he has many more books that are kept in a closed cabinet (so as not to overwhelm him — or me) but they are easily accessible for when we want to look at books together.   Stay tuned for a look at his shelves at 8 months.
