Our April.

April was quick! From recovering from my second D&C, to Eva getting pneumonia, to my double ear infections, to conjunctivitis, to sports and activities, school and birthday parties, volunteering and play dates, work and play group, spring break — and everything in between — it was just crazy.

The month kicked off with an overnight trip for Javi and Sean. They spent a night at Sturbridge Village and participated in “Night at the Museum”. They both loved it.

Easter weekend was filled with joy! We did the town Easter egg hunt with the kids, did baskets Easter morning, another egg hunt, dyed eggs, hung out with family — it was great. It was chilly but sunny and I ended up getting a bad sunburn.

Spring sports really took off. I don’t know what happened! I promised us that we wouldn’t be too scheduled and before I knew it we had things every night! Javi is doing lacrosse (practice twice a week and games every Sunday morning), and he’s taking two enrichment classes at school: a robot coding class one afternoon a week and a basketball enrichment one MORNING a week. I repeat: MORNING. I don’t know what came over me when I signed the permission slip that said I would have him at school at 7:45AM once a week. And then, there’s Cub Scouts.

Lola has dance + gymnastics, and she joined a Tumbling class once a week. Then despite telling me last year that she didn’t like baseball, she was disappointed that she wasn’t on a baseball team this spring! So, I signed her up. Baseball is two days a week! Then she has speech twice a week and Music Therapy. And Eva, sweet Eva, is doing great in her speech class and does a Tap class that I don’t think she really loves. She keeps talking about horseback riding. We’ll see what comes of that!

April also brought us Spring Break! No big trips or travels for us but we managed to do a ton in between when Eva was sick and when I got sick… we went mini-golfing, saw the Mario movie in theaters, went to a puppet show, saw a live animal show, went roller skating, ate ice cream… you name it!

The kids are also becoming quite the social butterflies with very busy social calendars. Javi managed to be invited to two play dates and two birthday parties during April and Lola was invited to a birthday party, too! One of Javi’s parties was a “ninja” party and one was a pool party (indoor, because we are still only in the 50s around here) and Lola’s party was at a trampoline park. They had a blast and I’m so happy that they’ve made some friends and get invited places.

Other random things that happened in April: spending lots of time in the car waiting out rainy Lacrosse games, Lola’s first filling — she did amazing, Eva walking Millie (and Millie celebrating a birthday!), playing doctor and games, various poses, homeschooling, volunteering to put together a beer-themed raffle basket for Lola’s baseball team, visiting a tulip farm, and I started running at the track near our house.

That’s all for now. 🙂
