December, as always, was a busy month. Between getting ready for the holidays, celebrating Lola’s birthday, everyone getting sick, being back at work four days a week, normal activities like Speech, OT, dance, Cub Scouts and sports — there was no time to catch my breath! Here’s a look at our December.
This year was finally the year we went to a tree farm and cut down our very own tree! This was not without conflict! It was a pretty nice day, considering, but trekking all over a farm with three children is not easy and after a bit — I was feeling done! 🙂 Turns out we all have very different ideas of what a nice Christmas tree looks like. There were tears involved, the kids chose the one they wanted and I’m pretty sure next year, we’ll go to a local store to get the tree.
Lola and Javi started basketball! They each practice two days a week.
We also did some things around town! We went to the town tree lighting and Javi and Sean rode in the parade with Cub Scouts! There were even fireworks. Another day we went to the fire station to meet Santa. It was the first year we got a picture with everyone because I promised Lola that Santa wouldn’t touch her and that she didn’t have to touch him. We also went on a wagon ride at a local farm.
We decorated the house! And took a lot of photos in front of the mantle with our North Pole village.
We took a family photo and even got Christmas cards printed! But they never made it to the post office so I still have stacks and stacks of them. This is the picture that’s on the front of the card.
The kids loved their advent calendar and the adventivities we did all month long!
We were really happy to join Lola in her classroom for a gingerbread house decorating party!
Javi and Sean got the stomach bug on Christmas Eve, then Eva had it two days after Christmas and Lola the day after. I managed to avoid it, thankfully. But it did sort of mess up our Christmas + Lola’s birthday + all of their winter break from school! We still had fun in between people being sick. At Christmas, Lola’s favorite gift this year was all her makeup! All Javi wanted was the board game Jumanji and Eva just really loved every second of everything.
Lola’s 5th birthday was December 27th! Unfortunately, Eva was sick that day so she had to stay home from the birthday festivities (Disney on Ice!) but Lola and Javi had a great time. After Disney on Ice, we had cake at the house followed by presents.
We finished out the month with a party on NYE at my parent’s house. Not many pictures from that night but it was a lot of fun.
September brought chilly mornings, lots of family time, busy schedules and birthdays!
