Our March Shelves.

It’s the end of the month so I’m sharing what our shelves have looked like for the past two weeks! While these are our March shelves, the activities would be great at any time, especially any time in the Spring.

Since we’re trying to spend a lot of time outdoors, I printed off this nature scavenger hunt. I ended up laminating it so they could use a dry erase marker again and again. We have yet to find a snail… and I’m okay with that! 🙂

This is a really fun activity I scooped up last spring. They use it every day!

It wouldn’t be Spring without doing some planting. These little kits are our favorites! Target ($3) Dollar spot has a bunch.

It’s a perfect time to talk about the Spring equinox. Providing a globe and a flashlight creates lots of opportunities to talk about day and night, the relationship between the Earth, the sun and the moon, as well as how the Earth turns and is tilted away from or toward the Sun which is why we have seasons like Spring (and Fall, Winter and Summer.) Lola was into it… Eva enjoyed the flashlight. 🙂

I used some shapes from our toddler shape sorter to show Lola that flowers (and everything else) are made up of shapes! She traced them and then colored.

I also put out 1:1 correspondence. I think next month, Lola will move onto teen numbers which is SO exciting because she’s been working so hard. But I will still continue to put out (easier) activities like this to practice and further gain confidence! Just because a child masters something doesn’t mean you have to put it away never to return to it again.

We have some cutting strips out and some butterfly letter matching.

Spring is a good time to talk about the parts of a flower, which is what she did here.

It’s fun to talk about the lifecycle of a flower, too!

Javi was sick and home for a few days so even he got in on the fun! I had these nature crossword and word search puzzles that fit right into our theme.

And of course, from Saint Patrick’s Day… our rainbow paper chain is still going strong. Never underestimate the power of strips of paper and some scotch tape!

Enjoy!
