Six months with Eva June.

Today, Eva and I visited the doctor for her 6 month well-visit. What a crazy time to go to the doctor! Since we don’t leave our house I had no idea about all the happenings in this Covid-19 world. Most of the visit was done over the phone while we sat in the parking lot — good thing she was asleep because she HATES the car and the carseat. After we had a conversation and question & answer time — they suited up, I wore a mask and we went inside.

They quickly weighed her (16.9 pounds//60% percentile) and checked her height (grew 2 inches in 2 months//75% percentile) and measured her head. They listened to her chest (she has a wheeze), looked around her nose, ears and throat (she has allergies), gave her 3 vaccinations and sent us on our way. It was quick (but a bit scary!). She CRIED during the shots. And oh man, her cry is heartbreaking — and dramatic.

I can’t believe she’s already six months old and I’m so happy that she’s grown so much in these months. She started out as a teeny peanut. Not anymore! We’ve gotten into the habit of calling her Evie and Evie-Stevie. Lola calls her E.

Eva has had a good month! She’s drinking bottles like a fish so we started her on some baby food. She’s had sweet potatoes, apples, pears and bananas. So far she’s loved all of it. She breezed out of 3-6 month clothing, stopped for a day or 2 in 6 month clothing and now we’re just jumping into 6-12 month clothing. She is SO long so pants don’t fit her and the snaps on onesies are too tight.

Her acid reflux is back in full force and the doctor pointed out that she’s grown so much that the dose she’s taking probably isn’t enough anymore. So we’re going to be changing up her medicine to get her back on the right track. She was sleeping through the night but this past week she’s waking up, so upset and has been joining us in our bed. I don’t actually mind but I know it’s not a habit we want to continue for a long time.

She still likes her pacifier but has also started showing interest in other toys, too. She grasps for things and really stares and concentrates to try to get her fingers to work! I love watching her movements — they’re so deliberate AND so uncoordinated that it’s sort of amazing. She also holds her own bottle! We’re still waiting on her to fully roll over.

We celebrated Mother’s Day together for the first time — but other than that, have had an otherwise standard “quarantined” month. She’ll come with us to pick up groceries. Sean takes her for a walk in the stroller most nights if the weather is decent. But pretty much we’re home, staying safe — just as well because, she’s actually become impossible in the car!

We are totally smitten with her.
