Lola turned two months old last week! It’s amazing she’s growing so fast and I notice her growth in the littlest ways — the top of her head now touches the bottom of my chin when I wear her in the ergo, she fills out the “infant insert” in the car seat and her little feet are becoming the same size as the palm of my hand.
She’s more predictable these days and so I’ve started to venture out of the house with her. We had our first shopping trip together (to craft stores, of course) and she was pretty happy. When I pushed her for one more store (Nordstrom Rack) she had enough and made it known. 🙂 It’s the end of the world when she’s hungry (same as me) but other than that she’s a happy little girl.
This month she took her first trip to Maine, and New Hampshire. She did so well on both trips and slept most of the time in the car. In Maine, she also went to a restaurant and the beach for the first time! She stayed asleep in her car seat for both of those outings though so I’m not sure they really count. :)She loves holding hands, taking “spa” baths (and HATES when you take her out of the tub), and looking around at everything in the house. We talk a lot and I’ve become a babywearer. It really is very convenient.
Her neck is getting so strong and she tracks me with her eyes wherever I go. She has the most amazing and happy smile and she’s started to make those little baby coos and laughing noises. She makes those sounds with us BUT she really makes them when she watches Javi do anything. It’s so cute. 🙂 She’s becoming a bit grabby (I know she can’t help it) and my poor hair is taking a beating. We went to her latest doctor appointment and she survived her first round of vaccinations. She DID NOT enjoy them, of course, and made it very known to the nurse that she was not happy. Luckily, she didn’t have any side effects PLUS I had a bottle of milk at the ready (she drinks 5 ounces every meal). But she’s 23.5 inches long (85th percentile) and 13.1 pounds (80th percentile). She’s wearing 0-3 clothes and is in size 1 diapers but I think both will need to be sized up in the next week or so. I can’t believe it and I’m trying to get her into as many of her outfits as possible before they are all too small.
She’s still sleeping next to our bed in the rock n play and it works well (for me… I think Sean is missing his sleep!). I’m hoping to transition her to her own room next week. If it works, great! and if not, we’ll go to plan b (which is basically just continuing with what we’re doing). 🙂 She’s been sleeping really well — sometimes from 7PM to around 5AM. She’s still using a pacifier but it’s pretty touch and go. Sometimes she loves it and sometimes she wants nothing to do with it.
We have a pretty good routine down of snuggling/nap, diaper change, bottle, sit me up (loves it), tummy time (hates it), swing, snuggling/nap — repeat. It’s a bit different when it’s not just the two of us at home, but pretty much we stick to this schedule. I control the remote and we’ve binge watched A LOT of TV. I can tell she’s already a fan of Boy Meets World. 🙂
Her blue eyes have stuck around so far and her hair (what she has) remains pretty dark brown. She has that little bald spot on the back on her head (and a few wrinkles back there, too!) and is starting to get it back on the sides. For a few weeks there she really did look like a monk.
In a few weeks, I’m going back to work so our routine will change a bit since she’ll start daycare. I’m interested to see what that means for all of us but I’m sure we’ll all adjust (and it helps to know that summer break is just 10 weeks away). Lola just needs a warm place to sleep and she’s good. 🙂
