Weekend Getaway.

Last weekend we visited Sean’s parents in Maine! Javi had a half day on Friday, so after the girls finished their speech sessions we left! We got to their house around 7PM — so the kids got to bed pretty late. Then they actually went to bed but woke up at 12:30AM acting like that was totally normal. The first night there is always a bit tough because they are so excited they can’t sleep. They were up for good just before 5AM.

The kids stayed at the house for the day with grandparents and had a blast playing every game and toy there! Sean and I went out to lunch and went into a few stores in Freeport. We rounded out our afternoon in a place called Bailey’s Island — you literally drive until you can’t drive anymore because the road ends and meets up with the ocean. There was a small gift shop there and it was cute!

On the second day, the kids started off the morning by making donuts. They got a little carried away with frosting and sprinkles! Then we all went to brunch and for a drive to Pemaquid Lighthouse which is where Sean and I got engaged. Lola fell asleep on the way (that’s what happens when you’re running on no sleep!) so she wasn’t in the best mood at the lighthouse. Plus it was like 17 degrees!

Everyone finally slept well the third night (it’s always the case!) and no one was ready to leave on Monday afternoon! Both drives were pretty uneventful — which is always what you hope for!

Hopefully we can visit again soon. 🙂
