Wilmington, North Carolina.

We got back from NC yesterday. We left Thursday and flew to Raleigh, rented a car and drove to Wilmington. The convenient part of this was the direct flight from Logan to Raleigh and the inconvenient part was the two hour drive after we landed. It was well worth it because of the money savings though I wish the drive was a little more entertaining.

We loved North Carolina. Sean had been before — but I had never been there. We stayed at the Hilton which was a great central location and close to everything. Friday at noon, we had the wedding rehearsal followed by some free time which Sean and I spent exploring around the hotel. I was very aware of the fact that both One Tree Hill and Dawson’s Creek were filmed in Wilmington and many places we went into had pictures of the casts. So, that was pretty cool. The rehearsal dinner was on Alex’s family’s land near the marina. It was beautifully decorated and included an armadillo cake which I learned is a southern tradition and is in the movie Steel Magnolias.

Saturday morning was spent getting ready (hair and makeup) and getting dressed with all the bridesmaids. Brett’s sister and sister in-law are both pregnant so it was fun taking pictures of the three of them after getting all done up with our monogrammed shirts we were given from the bride.

When it was time we took a trolley to the venue and it was amazing. It’s easy to fall in love with the landscape of Wilmington and the Poplar Grove Plantation was straight out of a Nicolas Sparks novel. Of course, all the DIY touches that Brett included made it even more romantic and perfect.

See? Beautiful!
