This summer we spent two weeks in the Cape with my aunt and cousin. The kids had so much fun going to the beach every day, ordering mac + cheese at every restaurant we went to, eating endless popsicles and ice cream, and waking up before the sun (yikes!). There were definitely really stressful days (traveling with little ones) but the overall trip was wonderful and I can’t wait to go again next summer.
The first week we were there we rented a house on Homeaway. It was the same house we rented in 2018. It’s on a lake so the kids loved that and it also had a great outdoor area. Javi and Lola were OBSESSED with the outdoor shower which was good because they basically took two showers a day after so much beach, sunscreen, sweat, and ice cream.
We spent days in Chatham and Mashpee, saw BLUE TREES, took Javi mini-golfing for the first time, went on a carousel, visited the mall, and so on. But mostly, we spent time at the beach.
The second week we were there we stayed at a family friend’s house. Both houses were in the same area and had access to the same beaches which was nice and familiar. During both weeks, family members visited us and stayed for the day or for a few days which was a nice change of pace.
Since we were there two back-to-back weeks, Sean was able to come down during the weekends in between work. Next year, I’m hopeful he can come for the whole time! 🙂 Especially since we’ll be plus another little one!
The Cape is a very nostalgic place for me. Even though I don’t LOVE it (I’m so not a beach/sun/sand/heat person), I grew up going there every year when I was little. So far, we’ve been able to give our kids that same gift and I think they actually enjoy it more because they totally ARE beach/sun/sand/heat people!
