It’s almost winter and we’re deep into Advent Activities but I never shared glimpses of our Fall activities! This year, Javi’s in first grade, Lola is home in the morning and attends pre-k each afternoon and Eva is home all day, every day. So we don’t do as many activities as we used to — but we still do some!
Dot Painting: The girls enjoyed dot painting leaves! This was really a challenge for those fine motor skills.

Painting with Duplos: We dipped the ends of the duplos into paint and used them to add “leaves” onto trees. The girls thought this one was really funny.

Sensory Bin: In October I set up a Halloween-themed sensory bin in our flisat table using kinetic sand and a whole bunch of halloween-themed objects.

Buttons: We practiced buttoning in anticipation of wearing all those fall and winter jackets!

Pumpkin Scrubbing: We did pumpkin scrubbing through October and into November. Any work with water is a work they always want to continue!

Pumpkin Hammering: They loved using a small hammer and hammering golf tees into the sides of a pumpkin. Add a tea light and it becomes quite festive!

Classic Pouring: Of course, a Practical Life shelf wouldn’t be complete without some pouring activities. This set is from Michaels a few years ago and gives them a chance to do 1:3 pouring.

Baking: The fall is a fun time to bake with kids! We made multiple pies, apple crisp, cinnamon rolls, and more!

Chalkboard Writing: Lola started showing an interest in handwriting so she started using the chalkboard to write shapes.

Counting with Dice: Lola’s also pretty strong with numbers up to 20 now! This activity lets her roll a dice, read the dice (1-6) and then identify a pumpkin with the same number and color it in.

Sandpaper Letters: We continued working with Sandpaper Letters and matched them with the Sand tray!

Line Tracing: Both girls really enjoyed this line tracing activity. I laminated each sheet so they could use a dry erase marker on them and reuse the strips.

Color Sorting: Eva loved sorting these acrylic leaves to the different pieces of felt.

Painting Pumpkins: We spent an afternoon painting pumpkins!

Sweeping Leaves: I bought some faux leaves — a garland I cut up — and the kids used our child-sized broom and dustpan to sweep them up.

Sand Art: The kids loved doing a Halloween-themed sand art kit! I realized that we had never done one before!

Foam Stickers: Eva loves to peel the backs of stickers off and stick them to… everything. She had a lot of fun doing just that. Javi, on the other hand, likes to make a scene and use the stickers in a more deliberate way!

Speech Work: Lola worked really hard on beginning /p/ sounds!

I’ll try to share our December activities in a more timely manner! 🙂
