Goals Check-In, Week 5.

Our progress during week 5!

Welcome to February! We just completed five weeks of our 2022 goals and things are looking… decent 🙂

Goal #1: Declutter. I finally sold the last thing I listed on Mercari at the beginning of January! It feels so good. I had sorted items in bins but told myself I would only list a handful of things and then once they all sold, I’d list more. I did it this way, because it’s hard to keep track of everything. But I’m happy to say my final item sold on Friday and I shipped it Saturday! So this week, I will list of whole bunch of things for February and hope they sell quickly. It feels good to get things out of the house.

Goal #2: No spend challenge. I’m still trying to figure out how to track our spending — but I can say that the difference between our spending from week 4 ($511) to week 5 ($300) was $211. Now, part of that was because in week 4 we did have some non-essential spending (a trip to Mcdonalds for the kids, appetizers and drinks at a restaurant for us) and in week 4 we also had to buy a good amount of expensive essentials (diapers, pull-ups, laundry detergent, ice melt) which meant we didn’t need to buy any of that stuff during week 5! But then in week 5, we did so well (only buying groceries!) until Javi needed to buy his classmates valentines and chose the MOST EXPENSIVE ONES Amazon sells. 🙂

But… all that said… we didn’t buy anything new that wasn’t a consumable product. So, yay, for not bringing new items in the house!

Goal #3: Save $20K. Nothing to report in our savings adventures! It makes me feel a little defeated but in doing this I’ve been paying attention to our money coming in and it’s just not realistic to save money during the week our mortgage is due! So, hopefully next pay period, I can make up the difference… or sell a lot of stuff?! (haha)

Week 5 savings: $0

Total saved: $1060 (5.3% at goal)
