Life at three.

It’s been a long while since I’ve given a little update on Javi (or as he says, Javier Cash Duffy). Javi turned 3 in September and he started in his new Montessori classroom the same month. He loves everything about school especially recess time and he loves making friends.

It’s been a long while since I’ve given a little update on Javi (or as he says, Javier Cash Duffy). Javi turned 3 in September and he started in his new Montessori classroom the same month. He loves everything about school especially recess time and he loves making friends. He brings A LOT of stories home about all the people in his life and he’s very adult about it all.

At home, he’s currently into playing “family” calling people “hunny” and taking things (pretty quickly) away from Lola. He has serious FOMO, refuses to nap though he needs the sleep because he wakes up at 5AM, and he’s still obsessed with puzzles. He’s good at puzzles, too! We keep getting him larger puzzles to complete and he does them with such ease. He also loves coloring and painting and singing and dancing. He invites EVERYONE to do these things with him HOWEVER if you actually try… he takes the toys away (in the name of “sharing”), and he tells you to stop singing, stop dancing and basically STOP doing anything and everything. He’s very much like a sour patch kid. (first they’re sweet; then they’re sour).

In the past few months Javi’s: gotten a black eye from a friend, gone to the playground an estimated 500 times, had a birthday + a birthday party with a bounce house, was a frequent invitee of MANY birthday parties, become very interested in building with things, sized up and out of 2Ts, has played dress up nearly every day, carved a pumpkin, gone to Maine twice, went to his physical (32 pounds!), gone to the zoo, gone hiking, gotten two haircuts, made it through the holidays, performed at his classroom winter celebration, met Santa, brought in the new year with family, and started ice skating lessons! PHEW!

This little guy challenges us every day! Literally sometimes by 7AM I feel a bit exhausted. ha! He’s GO GO GO 24/7. He’s hyped up and ready to rock from the time he opens his eyes. Javi’s also the sweetest kid. He’s funny and makes us laugh out loud. His intonation and expression is spot on. He says so many things that makes me stop and say “oh, ya, that’s me” — or “yep, that’s Sean”. This age is hard but it’s fun. It’s messy but it’s heartwarming. It’s stressful but it’s exciting. And it’s quick. Oh, so quick.
