Just like Taylor Swift says: August slipped away into a moment in time. It was here and then gone in the blink of an eye. Here’s a little recap:
Cheer began! Lola had been waiting since last October for Cheer to start up again so she was so happy when the day finally came. Opening week, they held a little Barbie party! She’s on the same team as last year with the same coaches and girls. She has practice twice a week, plus some mandatory choreography days and then she cheers at the football games. It keeps her busy!
Javi did two weeks of an outdoor/wilderness camp that he loved. It was fishing, hiking, canoeing, orienteering… basically, right in line with his work with Cub Scouts. He came home every day so happy — I was little nervous about ticks! 🙂 He didn’t seem to mind and he caught his first fish!
I knew August would be hard for me since that’s when our baby was supposed to be due so Sean and I went to the Cape for two nights for a “due date escape”. We ate a lot of good food and slept! It didn’t take away my sadness but it was a nice time. It also fulfilled my Cape fix since we usually go there every summer for a week with the kids, but didn’t this year!
We spent a week in Nova Scotia — relaxing, sightseeing and being tourists!
Javi was invited to two birthday parties for friends (a trampoline park and a ninja party), I took each kid back to school shopping — individually (Javi wanted a trip to the mall so he could ride the carousel) and Lola went to her Cheer fundraiser at Urban Air. She was nice enough to let Eva tag along. 🙂
We finally upgraded Eva’s toddler bed to a real twin bed! Their room configuration couldn’t handle Lola’s original day bed and a twin bed for Eva, so Lola lucked out with a new bed and bedding, too! Their room still needs some TLC and one day I’ll get to it! I just have no idea what to do with their space and all their crap — I mean, loved possessions. 🙂
And then, before we knew it, it was time to go back to school!
The summer was busy and I loved being away. It was just what we needed. Next year, we’ll probably stay closer to home!
Winter can feel slow, like everyone’s in hibernation mode — staying cozy at home. But…
I hear it all the time: why don't you just go back to work? When…
Apparently I love self help books and this month, I read four of them!
I’m in my Mom-era now, and for a while, my mindset was, “If I can’t…
