We had a slow month! It felt full but to be honest, we cut so much out this month that it’s been a slower couple of weeks than the last few months. I didn’t mind it! We stopped extra-curricular activities (dance, gymnastics, basketball), the little girl I’ve been taking care of two days a week stopped joining us, my volunteering roles at Javi’s school have been cut back (the school isn’t having anymore volunteers)… so our days are pretty wide open.
Let’s take a look back…
Javi had a few days of at-home learning. With the rising COVID cases, we chose to keep him home a few days and then were told by the school… he couldn’t return to school anyway! 🙂 Homeschooling him is a dream come true so I enjoy every day that he’s here!
We moved around the kids bedrooms! Here is Javi’s new space and the girls. They’ve been loving their new spaces and I feel like we’ve been enjoying the rooms more now that they’re a bit more functional and reflective of all their personalities.
Lola’s been busy, too! I showed some of her daily work and her new calming corner. She’s also been working hard during her speech classes — she now gets a good amount of homework! She hasn’t been to dance since before Christmas (we stopped because of COVID) but we’re hoping that can start back up again in February. But she loves our weekly visit to the Library!
And then, there’s Eva! She got two more teeth this month! She’s loving her hair in ponytails, is enjoying the snow (but not her chapped lips), and barely gets out of pajamas most days (but walks around in boots and a winter jacket!) We had one outdoor playdate with a friend on a warmer, 40 degree day. She was so happy!
We also got to celebrate my dad’s birthday! We had ice cream cake, decorations, a pinata and the kids had a sleepover complete with a movie night and popcorn!
We had a major snowstorm! The news was a bit dramatic with their explanations of what was to come: bomb cyclone is what they called it. It was snow, and wind… a blizzard? We lost internet for about an hour (I did in fact believe life as we knew it was over!) but luckily it came back, we kept our power… and just relaxed for the weekend. Until it was time to dig out and play in the snow! See below to see Lola’s snow babies. That girl can make a baby out of anything.
In other news, I am slowly making progress with our 2022 goals: decluttering, a no spend challenge and saving $20K. I was voted in as the Corresponding Secretary for the PTO at Javi’s school. It’s a board position so it involves some extra meetings and commitments each month. Sean’s been enjoying some food challenges I’ve tasked him with — last week, it was “make a Mexican dish every day of the week”. 🙂
Let’s see what February brings…
