September was a hard month. I normally really enjoy September — the month of my birthday (and Javi’s) and brand new TV shows! But this September has been really busy… and busy with things that just aren’t that fun. Our water heater broke and had to be replaced, the kids caught some cough that is still going on, Sean had to travel to New York for work, we had a minor gas leak at the house, I had to go to the RMV to renew my license, the washing machine broke, my registration expired and so did my inspection sticker (!), and I went back to working 20 hours a week — just a lot of time spent on things I could otherwise do without. 🙂 But anyway, here are the things I’d like to remember:

We started the month by visiting Lola’s new classroom! She is attending a pre-k program five days a week. She was nervous until she discovered the classroom has a kitchen set and four baby dolls and she gets to paint and color. 🙂

We spent Labor Day up in Maine with Sean’s parents. We had a great weekend visiting a Fort, the beach and going on a boat cruise!

Lola’s first day of school!

Technically Javi’s first day was August 31 but I never shared his first day of school photo… so here it is:

Javi started soccer. He was assigned to the Pink team but a mix up with printed team shirts put him on a blue team by day 2! 🙂

I turned 36! We had a nice leisurely morning (soccer at 8AM), followed by errands and lunch. 🙂 And finished the day with dinner and cake.

Lola started a new year of Dance! This year she chose ballet, jazz/hip-hop and gymnastics. She says tap shoes hurt her feet!

I started homeschooling Eva! We’re doing about one hour of “school” every day and then once a week we do a little homeschool co-op where another friend joins us for a 3-4 hour stretch. She is loving it!

Javi turned 7! He chose to have a “friend party” this year and I was a little sad about it. But we let it happen and he invited about 15 kids to a trampoline park. Craziest two hours we’ve had in a long time! On his actual birthday, we celebrated with presents and cake.

I got a chance to volunteer for both Lola’s and Javi’s classrooms during the Book Fair. They also both had “Open Houses” in their rooms and we were able to visit one evening. Lola hated the visit! But Javi enjoyed showing us around his space and it was a lot of fun to see.

Eva had her first day of Dance! She’s doing a little “Taps and Tricks” class — which she loves. She’s woken up every day since asking if she’s going to dance that day. 🙂

Lola participated in her first Cheer Competition! She had so much fun. We had no idea it was a whole thing — it was like a five hour day! Total shock. But she was amazing and it was so fun to see all that she’s learned.

Eva went a bit viral on Instagram when she made Javi’s birthday cake! The video has over 85K views.

Javi joined Cub Scouts. Accidentally, I became a Den leader and I’m not too excited about it but Javi’s thrilled.

Some other fun things from September were weekly Library trips, playground time, hosting a girls night with my friends, finishing my September Book club book Wrong Place, Wrong Time, catching up on Handmaid’s Tale and the new Dahmer show on Netflix, leading my first PTO committee of the year for an October Trunk Or Treat event, and starting my annual rewatch of Gilmore Girls. I started September 1st and I just got to season 3 — the Jess year. 🙂

We finished the last few days of September by going to Party City and choosing Halloween costumes (Bo Peep for Lola, Sleeping Beauty for Eva and Harry Potter for Javi) and by watching Hocus Pocus 2 on our outdoor projector! The kids loved it. We’re excited for October!
