With St. Patrick’s Day this week, I took some time to swap out some of our activities for more holiday-themed materials. First up, these are our shelves focused on fine motor and Practical Life (mostly.)Â
Top to bottom:
2. Box with themed-stickers for decorating
3. Spooning pom-poms
4. Sheep bank with coins
5. Grading shamrocks, large to small
6. 1:1 correspondence with coins
Top-bottom:
1. Pouring
2. Sink and Float
3. Squeezing, clothespins on a container
4. Tonging shamrocks
5. Wooden rainbow
6. Coloring
I’ve also included a cultural basket about Ireland on our shelves. Cultural baskets are a way to introduce a place to a child: the people who live there, the animals and plant life present, the holidays that are celebrated, facts about the country/continent (population, leader, currency, landmarks.) And of course, the flag!
Inside our cultural basket I included some printables you can find here. I also included some of our family scrapbooks from our visit to Ireland. My kids are enjoying looking at them so much and they are great conversation starters! I added a travel book about Ireland because it has great photos. I also included some left over Euros and some small items I purchased from our time there — pitchers, a sheep bank, an Irish flute, keychains, postcards, and our family shield.
