Tap Class + our first recital.

Lola started Tap class in March. She has been loving each class; always so excited to go. She loves her teacher, all her friends and of course, her tap shoes! Because of Covid, I have to wait in the car during every class so I had never seen her dance.

Lola started Tap class in March. She has been loving each class; always so excited to go. She loves her teacher, all her friends and of course, her tap shoes! Because of Covid, I have to wait in the car during every class so I had never seen her dance. I just drop her off and then pick her up and when I ask her to show me what she learned in class, she jumps up and down and does a spin. πŸ™‚

After a month of classes, the school told me that she’d be participating in the recital. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect! I never took dance when I was little. I think I attended 1 or 2 recitals when I was younger but definitely didn’t know what went into it all. And for sure, it’s impressive! (and expensive!)

The day before the recital, she had a rehearsal. We had strict instructions that her hair had to be in a bun (ha); she was to wear pink blush and red lipstick and mascara was optional. I was so overwhelmed and nervous for her! She sat with the other girls in the audience and I watched her from my seat. She seemed so big. She followed her group to the dressing room, and then after a bit, the curtain opened and she was right on stage! She was amazing. She knew the song, danced, tapped, sang and even added in her own twirl. Her dance was to “Octopus’s Garden”.

The day of the recital, she was SO excited although she was sort of like but I already did this yesterday. πŸ™‚ We made sure to take pictures before the actual recital and I’m so glad I did because she was so tired after that I’m not sure she would have been very cooperative for photos.

She was so interested in everything happening at the recital and wanted to stay to watch every performance! It’s safe to say that next year, when the new session starts, she’ll want to join more than one class! I’m so glad she found something that she loves.

This final picture is of us waiting in the dressing room before the show and before I had to leave her to find my seat. I was nervous to leave her but she was so excited. πŸ™‚
