Yearly Recap: 2017.

It’s time for our yearly recap! Truth be told, I LOVE these posts. Documenting our lives and our family is the reason I blog. I love having a journal, of sorts, to look back on, remember and smile.

Yearly Recap —

In January, I set out on a goal to blog in real-time (I think I succeeded!). We rang in the new year at home with family! Javi moved from his infant class to a toddler room. I was devastated on inauguration day and decided to take on activism as a “hobby”. Sean traveled to California and I survived a week without him. My parents moved into their new house.

February:

February started off with a bang and with Javi’s first trip to the emergency room. I joined the 10 actions/100 days campaign. Javi turned 17 months. We got a lot of snow and Javi wasn’t a fan of sledding. We watched the Patriots win the Superbowl.

March:

We celebrated Sean’s birthday and traveled to California for my work. We stayed in San Diego (+ here), with my family and even went to Disneyland and Santa Monica. Due to a snowstorm we got stuck on the west coast and had to drive from Orange County, California to Phoenix, Arizona to catch a flight. We survived our first public toddler meltdown. I went on my annual scrapbook weekend.

April:

The weather finally started to warm up and we spent more time outside. I got the newest iPhone. We celebrated Easter and Javi participated in the town egg hunt. We took Javi to the Boston Marathon. And brought Javi to the Boston Science March and found out I was pregnant! We started to build a garden… but it never panned out (ha!).

We spent a week in the Cape. We announced that we were having a baby AND that it was a girl! We left on our 1,400 mile road trip to Florida to spend time with Sean’s dad. Our kitchen got a facelift.

September:

We traveled to New York for my cousin’s wedding. I started my ninth year of teaching AND Javi joined the toddler class at my school. I turned 31 and Javi turned 2 and we had a party. I fainted at the grocery store. We went to the pumpkin patch. Our home renovations wrapped up. Sean tore up the carpet in our bedroom and we discovered we had hardwood floors under it! Javi got another haircut. We rented a dumpster and purged our whole house.

October:

Javi chipped his tooth! I switched my blog over from blogspot to wordpress (I’m still upset about it) and did a playroom reveal. We went to the zoo and went apple picking and even participated in a 5K. We went back to the zoo and Javi refused to wear his halloween costume. Javi got diagnosed with strep! We went trick-or-treating (in pajamas).

November:

Sean’s parents moved and we spent a weekend in Maine with them. We celebrated Thanksgiving early so Sean could travel to Florida to visit his dad again. Artemis had dental surgery. Javi and I spent Thanksgiving with my family and we went shopping on Black Friday. Javi got his third haircut, I started getting iron infusions for anemia and my friends had a sprinkle for me! Sean and I saw Macklemore in concert.

December:

My mom and aunt had a “flurry” for me and we revealed baby girl’s name! We started our advent calendar activities and went to the town tree lighting ceremony. I started maternity leave. We picked out our Christmas tree and decorated it. I talked a lot about pregnancy, revealed our bathroom makeover and the new nursery! Javi started toilet training. We had a wonderful Christmas — oh, and Lola joined our family!

2017 was a great year and we can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for us.
