2022 Goals.

Three goals for 2022.

Happy New Year!

This year rather than resolutions, I’ve set goals. The whole deciding to do or not do something — I’m not going to drink any Coke! Or I’m going to work out 5 days a week! Doesn’t work for me. It’s too cut and dry. Too rigid. Too easy to slip, give up and just say “oh, well”! But who doesn’t love setting some attainable, long-term and measurable goals?? 🙂

This year I have a three goals and they all overlap each other. These are my focuses for 2022:

  1. Declutter: Every bin, bag, drawer, cabinet, room and INCH of the house is going to be decluttered. I’ve started this process many times and never see it through to the end. So it never feels complete. Instead of continuing to purge, I go out and buy more bins, more shelving, more label makers to contain my STORAGE! I recently started to listen to The Joy Of Less on audible and the author says something like I starting realizing I wasn’t organizing my life, I was organizing my clutter. THIS IS HOW I FEEL. So no more. I already brought 12 bags of donations to Savers on 1/5 and it felt great.
  2. Say NO to stuff: This goes hand in hand with my first goal, but I really have made it a major intention to NOT bring new/reused/recycled items INTO my house. Just because there’s any empty space, doesn’t mean it needs to be filled. Just because I want something, doesn’t mean I need it. Just because it’s cute, doesn’t mean it needs to take up real estate in my home. It can be equally cute in the dollar section at Target.
  3. No spend YEAR: My goal, because it’s kind of crazy, is to save $20K. I read that it takes a little more than $27 a day to spend $10K in a year. That’s insane. I did the math and I know what I spend on the crap that becomes the clutter in my home and I know what I spend at places like Amazon, Target, and Michaels specifically (but there’s other culprits — fast food places, I’m looking at you!) It’s all just unnecessary, wasteful spending and it’s typically, more than $27 a day. The goal is that for every day I don’t spend money, I pay us $60 (move money from checkings to savings.) I thought this one would be the most fun to track, and it’s also the most measurable goal — so I plan to do weekly check-in’s each Friday to share how we’re doing with our NO SPEND/SAVE $20K CHALLENGE. Sean’s on board with this one but I don’t think he has that much faith in us. 🙂

So tell me, what are your goals for 2022?
