April Highlights.

April! April is over and it went by in the blink of an eye. It was a roller coaster of a month, that’s for sure! Here’s a look back…

We took the kids to the marathon start line the day before the race. This is something we’ve done (almost) every year since we’ve been married. It was raining which was sort of a bummer but the kids didn’t care at all. We took some photos and they had a fun time jumping in the puddles.

We dismissed the kids early from school on the day of the solar eclipse! I bought some glasses off amazon and I guess since our eyesight is still the same… they were authentic! Thank goodness! We weren’t in the path of totality — I think we were at 92% or something, but I was surprised at how bright it remained. Eva was certain the world was ending which is why she’s crying in one of the photos!

The kids had school vacation week in mid-April. On the first day of the break I surprised them by renting a bounce house! They were SO excited and thankful and told me, repeatedly, that it was the best day ever!

Eva and Javi are playing baseball this spring, so one Saturday was spent at Opening Day! I just love them in their uniforms. Javi is on the Red Wings and Eva is on the Rockhounds! And yes, most times their games conflict with each other and it’s terrible to have to choose who to see! (They are both #3! How special is that?!)

The day before school break ended, we were at Cub Scouts and another mom asked me how the second grade science project was going. Ummmm. “We” forgot and hadn’t started it! But he got to work the following day on his hammerhead shark diorama and it turned out the absolute best! He got 20/20 on the project and he was so proud.

One weekend we went to Lowes, got pavers and Sean placed them around this tree near the mud kitchen. The girls have been setting up their Fairy Garden ever since!

In addition to his science project, Javi has been filling his time with sports and Cub Scouts. He and Sean spent a weekend camping which they both loved. I think Javi loved it more because he was with his friends and not necessarily for the camping aspect. He’s fully decided lacrosse isn’t for him but he reluctantly goes to practice twice a week and the games every Sunday. He participated in the town Earth Day clean-up and picked up trash with his Cub Scout den. He loves our new basketball hoop in our newly paved driveway (!), and he is totally enjoying baseball. He joined a tennis class at school one day a week. He also got strep throat (again) and norovirus. And he ended up hurting himself in the bounce house I rented, so he had a big old bump/bruise situation for about a week. So, that was sweet…

Lola is reading, reading, reading nonstop! She joined an after school enrichment class: Disney Crafts, where she makes crafts on Thursday afternoons. She is loving the warmer weather and spends all the time that we’ll let her in the fairy garden and using the mud kitchen. She has been helping around the house and likes doing her chores every day. She’s been busy with Girl Scouts and soccer (and dance, and tumbling, and gymnastics!)

Eva was patient 0 — bringing norovirus into our home of 6 people. She also tested positive for strep (again) and missed a lot of school! So, we spent a lot of time together! We painted, made lemonade, played games, snuggled, went for walks, played outside — it was actually really perfect. She got a new big girl bike! And she 100% LOVES her baseball team and everything about playing baseball.

Walker spent his month growing! Nonstop… just growing! Here’s his month two update.

Some other things we did this month: I went back to work when my FMLA ran out, we looked at RV’s because we might buy one (!), we got our driveway paved, I went out to dinner with friends, and I started going back in to volunteer in Javi’s class once a week. We also frequented the playground, had numerous play dates with friends, and I started thinking about summer!

We entered May with full hearts and a hope that warm weather comes… and stays!
