Eva’s Four!

Eva June is four and we can’t believe it!

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe I never properly acknowledged Eva June’s fourth birthday on the blog! She turned four (with a bang!) back in November. We celebrated her with dinner and she chose to have both cupcakes and cake (and ate neither!). Since she was a little sick on her actual birthday, we were able to extend the celebrations and go into her classroom the week after and continue to talk all about Eva. She chose two books for us to read and we got to see her in her element… at school with friends. Since she attends preschool half day, Sean and I were able to take her to lunch once she was feeling better so she got a special little lunch date with the two of us — plus the server brought out a dessert with a lit candle. She was floored!

This is the year Eva started preschool. She’s doing dance and gymnastics once a week. She loves stuffed animals. She loves fruit and vegetables (and pasta!), lemonade and apple juice. She loves her friends, her teachers and her family. She adores Javi and Lola. She’s miss manners — always saying thank you; so appreciative of anything you do for her or give her. She loves to curl up on the couch and watch a movie. She switches between Bluey and Superkitties — although, she’s dying for the new Trolls movie to be available on streaming. She loves to snuggle. She loves hugs and kisses, arts and crafts, baking and cleaning, helping and laundry. She gives the best back rubs!

She’s a story teller. She’s so funny. She says things that genuinely make us laugh. Even Javi said the other day “Eva’s one of the funniest people I know.” She has intense mannerisms and facial expressions. She has a flair for style. She loves yellow and purple, tulle and sequins. She loves fashion bandaids and chapstick. She loves that her hair is “so long” and when it’s wet and starts to curl she’s proud to be just like me with curly hair. She loves our cats (but wants a dog).

Eva loves to travel. She loves a good getaway and makes sure to pack her most prized possession — her teddy bear. She’s always up for a walk, no matter the weather. She loves a random trip to Chipotle for chips and salsa, and thinks Target is just where you go when you’re bored.

I feel so fortunate and lucky to have Eva. I know that she gets the best parts of me because in most cases, whatever we’re experiencing, I’ve already navigated as a parent to someone else. There’s a sense of calm, there, that isn’t necessarily present when I’m parenting the others. There’s just something about that third baby.

Even in the moments of — wow, she’s acting like a total four year old — all I see is joy — her joy and mine. She’s magic — pure four-year-old-magic.
