February Love Notes.

An easy and inexpensive way to show the kids a little love each day before Valentine’s Day!

Each day in February from the first to the 13th, we leave the kids little love notes. They decorated some cardboard mailboxes from Target last year and they were still in good shape so we’re re-using them this year! Each night we leave one paper heart in each mailbox for the kids to find and read the next morning.

Sean and I switch off who’s turn it is to leave the notes so it doesn’t feel overwhelming for just me. I chose to make all 21 (7 notes times 3 kids) of my love notes at the end of January. Sean chooses to make his the night before it’s his turn. Either way, it’s not too much time taken and they just love opening their mailboxes each morning!

This is the third year we’re doing this and I continue to take a more sentimental route. I like to leave little notes that start with “I love that” or “I love when” or “You are so” and make sure they are positive and uplifting! Sean prefers to leave little notes with jokes, and he even attaches little props to the notes for an added laugh. The kids love both and it’s nice to mix it up between serious and fun.

One of the sweetest parts is that some nights the kids will leave love notes in their mailboxes for us to find when we are stuffing their boxes for the following day.

It’s fun to see my china hutch covered in the hearts and it’s starting to fill up nicely!

This is such an easy (and inexpensive!) way to show the kids a little love each day before Valentine’s Day!
