My February Book Reads.

Added five more books to my book count for 2023!

The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida – This was a really quick read. It’s written in a question and answer format; an adult asking a child with autism questions and the child answers. Some of the responses were really sad, some were very logical, some were short and sweet without elaboration. It was a very interesting read, a bit heartbreaking.

The Comeback by Lily Chu – My audible credits don’t hit my account until around the 10th each month, so I searched for free books and this is one that came up! I loved it. It’s witty and funny. It made me laugh out loud. I didn’t want it to end and each time I had to stop for the day, I was a bit disappointed! I recommend it for an easy read.

Blink by K.L. Slater – This was a hard book to get through. It was an interesting premise… a psychological thriller about a child who goes missing. But it was poorly written, had so many unanswered questions, was really predictable and the main character, the mother, was infuriating. I do not recommend.

Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry – I loved this book. I thought it was fascinating. It’s relatable even if you have none of the same problems as him. If you enjoy memoirs, or love Friends… then this is for you.

How To Talk So Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber and Julie King – If I thought Blink infuriated me… this book was worse! It’s not that I don’t agree with a lot of the parenting strategies talked about in the book. I actually use a lot of them and have from the beginning of my parenting journey! But there were some major eye roll moments in the book that just had me saying oh please. I would only recommend this book to parents that aren’t searching for a guide to follow word for word. It’s definitely a book that is best to pick and choose what works for you, not to live by.
